Visual analytics are the newest addition to the bank of tools and resources to support you in your day to day work. They bring prescribing data to life and enable you to manipulate, interrogate and report on huge sets with incredible speed.

In these three short sessions, Liam Cahill introduces the functionality provided by the new system, how to use it and what you can expect to see in the future.

Bulletin 200 Launched - Lidocaine plasters (DROP-List)

This bulletin looks at lidocaine plasters and provides the rationale for not initiating lidocaine plasters in new patients, and for current patients to be considered for discontinuation of their prescription for lidocaine plaster, particularly if it is not being prescribed for the licensed indication.

High Value Medicines - High Value Outcomes? - Sue Smith, PrescQIPP - 12th December, 1pm - 2pm

On 12th December 1pm - 2pm Sue Smith, PrescQIPP's Head of Education, will be repeating her presentation from the PrescQIPP Annual Event held on 17th October 2017, "High Value Medicines - High Value Outcomes?" 

In the webinar Sue will talk about the use of NOACs in stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and whether we are seeing the anticipated national reduction in strokes expected from the use of NOACs. 

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions so if you have outcome data from work in your area we hope you'll be happy to share this.

TPP SystmOne training webinars - 18th and 25th January & 1st February, 1pm - 2pm

Basic functions - 18th January

During this webinar TPP will cover basic functions within SystmOne which includes: 

  • Viewing and navigating around the prescribing pages – in particularly viewing Acute, Current and Past Drugs (including changing prescribed drugs) 
  • Viewing test results 
  • Viewing consultations (including add a new consultation) 
  • Viewing scanned letter/documents

Search functions - 25th January

During the second webinar TPP will cover search functions within SystmOne which includes:

  • Running basic searches 
  • Building searches to include test results, readcodes and other relevant medicines 
  • Exporting searches to a usable format e.g. excel

Mail merge functions - 1st February

During the third and final webinar TPP will cover mail merge functions within SystmOne which includes:

  • Creating letter templates within the clinical system using word 
  • Attaching mail merged letters to individual patient records 
  • Attaching mail merged letters to searches to do bulk mail shots 

As usual all the presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

Bulletin 183 Launched - Anticoagulation

This bulletin is supported by a bumper set of resources which includes prescriber and patient decision aids, drug comparison charts, an audit, powerpoint presentation and data pack. An e-learning course on anticoagulation will be launched before the end of the year which will help support implementation.

Bulletin 188 Launched - Care homes - Assisting people with swallowing difficulties

This bulletin and supporting resources look at the use of thickeners- particularly in the care home setting. It does discuss the use of the current dysphagia diet food texture descriptors, which may be changing over the next 18 months to the IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) http://iddsi.org/
