Primary Care prescribing data skills training sessions

This series of webinars on primary care prescribing data provided an overview of the primary care prescribing data and tools available and how you can access them.

The training course consists of 8 parts that covers, introduction into prescribing data, PrescQIPP resources and visual data packs, NHSBSA ePACT 2, Open prescribing and how you use these in everyday practice.

8th September, 1.00pm to 2.00pm - An introduction to NHS primary care prescribing data

On 8th September, the first webinar in the series of webinars on primary care prescribing data provided an overview of the primary care prescribing data and tools available and how you can access them.

An introduction to each was given to help you decide when you should use them in your everyday practice.

This was aimed at PCN and practice pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, but may be of interest to anyone using or wanting to use primary care prescribing data.

10th September, 1.00pm to 2.00pm - PrescQIPP prescribing data tools - QIPP, PCN DES and cost pressures

On 10th September, the second webinar in this series of webinars on primary care prescribing data tools provided an overview of PrescQIPP data and analysis tools which allow you to identify QIPP opportunities, prescribing cost pressures and support with PCN DES measures. 15th September, 1.00pm to 2.00pm - PrescQIPP prescribing data tools - Practice reports, bulletin visual data packs and medicine safety

On 15th September, in the third of the series of webinars on primary care prescribing data tools we demonstrated how to produce practice visit and progress reports and gave you an overview of our bulletin visual data packs and infographics.

We also presented our medicine safety data tools.

24th September, 1.00pm to 2.00pm - NHSBSA - accessing prescribing dashboards and what the data is telling you

On 24th September, we welcomed NHSBSA to show you how to access their prescribing dashboards and explain what the data is telling you.

This webinar was one of a series of webinars we are holding on primary care prescribing data. NHSBSA, alongside their clinical working groups, have developed a range of dashboards to help CCGs, PCNs and practices benchmark, prioritise and monitor key prescribing metrics.

This session gave a detailed tour of how to interpret and use the data being shown in their dashboards with a focus on polypharmacy, mental health, respiratory indicators and comparators.

The session was delivered by Paul Westrip (Training and Engagement Manager) and Rob McHugh (Information Systems Trainer).

28th September, 1.00pm to 2.00pm - NHSBSA ePACT2 analysis - Building your own analysis and reports

On 28th September, we welcomed NHSBSA for their second session to show the power of both the data and the BI tool showing examples of the types of reports and visualisations you can build within ePACT2.

They covered using ,their patient identified columns, how to weight your analysis to make comparisons easier and how to effectively present data using their charts and tables.

The session was delivered by Paul Westrip (Training and Engagement manager) and Dan Thompson (Information Systems trainer).

On 7th October, we welcomed back Brian Mackenna to follow on from his presentation of 1st October on OpenPrescribing.

This session encouraged participants to discuss examples of using data to improve care in a question and answer format.
