My original concept " Seven steps towards successful self care" is a suite of complementary offerings for general practice, community pharmacy and the public. Originally developed to promote our local self care policy they could be adopted Nationally to help drive implementation of NHSE medicines value programme especially Conditions for which over the counter items should not routinely be prescribed in primary care and Items which should not routinely be prescribed in primary care.
The documents should be shared with GP surgeries, community pharmacies and the public so that all stakeholders understand what is expected of them in order to make best use of limited NHS resources.
Patients confidence to self care is boosted and they can access trusted and reliable sources of advice plus OTC medicines in a more timely manner thereby making better use of pharmacies and freeing up general practice surgery appointments for the management of chronic conditions.
See above.
Self care savings from baseline have been tracked monthly and in the year 2017/18 amounted to £982K across our locality.
Dissemination of seven steps towards self care documents to GP practices, community pharmacies and the public.
