Using a patient led prescription ordering app, Healthera, DGS CCG was able to expand the reach of our POD service to an extra 6 GP practices (60,000 patients) ;increasing patient to call handler ratio from1:10,000 to 1:15,000.
Healthera were able to develop a process that allowed patients to download an app, nominate their GP practice and pharmacy, and place a repeat medication request even when the POD office was closed. This request would be sent directly to POD email address to be validated prior to electronic transfer to the patients GP.
Overall, approximately £290k savings per year is attributed to the Healthera app.Further, an additional repeat medication ordering process that improves patient convenience and reduces workload stress on primary care has been established
