The objective of this project was to improve Pain management pharmacotherapy in Doncaster with emphasis on reduction in Opioid prescribing involving integrated working with multiple stake holders.
The design and implementation were driven from patient group discussions and feedback. The first step involved education of both patients and stakeholders.
The project is still ongoing but outcomes so far shown positive culture shift in opioid initiation amongst clinicians both in primary and secondary care and overall downward trend in opioid prescribing in Doncaster.
