Medication Amnesty (2019)

Harrogate and Rural District CCG

Project Summary

A medical centre in Harrogate hosted a Medication Amnesty from 28th January through to 1st February.

During this time patients at the three surgeries and community pharmacy could drop off unused or expired medicines for safe disposal, sign up for an MUR or medication review and learn more about small steps which can be taken to help reduce medicine waste.

The idea behind the medication amnesty was to provide an opportunity to understand from a patient's perspective the causes of unwanted and expired medicines, for patients to learn more about the correct use of medicines and support them in using their medications appropriately.
