Since 2020, the Medicines Optimisation (MO) Schemes developed by the MO team at NHS Devon CCG has focussed on addressing unwarranted variation in areas of local and national priorities. The scheme includes a range of measures, and practices are able to select those measures where they were at variance compared to peers nationally. To support the administration of this scheme, the MO team have developed an online portal that contains a suite of online tools to support practices in selection, and monitoring of progress, of the measures (see attached screengrabs).
The portal required input from the Medicines Optimisation team and the Business Intelligence Team to set up. It has been well-received by the MO team and practices alike. It has streamlined the process of engagement with the scheme and supported targeting of workstreams most relevant to each practice. The RAG rating used in the baseline data has facilitated conversations between our team and the practice, and supported practices in becoming familiar with national priorities and their data, as well as re-focussing the agenda towards unwarranted variation.
