Pharmacist Intervention Functionality in ePMA (2019)

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Project Summary

The ePMA team has implemented functionality allowing clinical pharmacists to document and record interventions they make as part of their day-to-day duties. As part of this, the ability to alert clinicians if there is a medication safety issue has been introduced (both passive and active alerts).

Once recorded, the system highlights if there is a medication issue that needs investigating. This is visible to prescribers and nursing staff as an icon displayed on the electronic medications admission record (eMAR).

A report has also been developed with the Information Reporting Team as a visual representation of the number and type of interventions made across all clinical areas.
