The Multi-Compartment Compliance Aid (MCCA) project group came together in response to feedback from primary care that patients were unable to receive their medication in a MCCA from a chosen local community pharmacy.
The principal aim of the group was to ensure eligible patients receive the expected outcome from the medicines they are prescribed, through obtaining support (i.e. reasonable adjustment) as defined by the Equality Act:2010, from their preferred community pharmacy, if appropriate.
The guiding principles document has been developed and agreed by a working group which has included multiple stakeholders. The principles seek to describe a collective approach that stakeholders should use, when contemplating the use of an MCCA device, for patients who may require additional support taking their medicines.
