This session was delivered by Rawida Elhussein, a Senior PCN Pharmacist with a specialist interest in diabetes management at Dartford MODEL PCN, who gave a a brief overview of the latest diabetes guidelines and what they mean for clinical practice in primary care.
It focused on the practical initiation of SGLT2 inhibitors, including identifying appropriate patients, key considerations before starting therapy, and supporting safe and effective use in routine practice.
Rawida also shared insights from a recent quality improvement project she was involved in, which aimed to support the implementation of this work within primary care, including practical learning and examples of how pharmacists can play a key role in optimising diabetes care.
