Our multiprofessional DPP course equips independent prescribers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide high-quality supervision and support the development of safe, effective prescribers. Mapped to the RCPharm, NMC, GMC, HCPC Prescribing Standards and Competency Frameworks, our DPP course helps participants make the transition from experienced clinician to educator, supervisor and assessor.
You will explore how to assess a trainee prescriber’s starting point, identify learning needs and develop an individualised learning plan. The course focuses on making clinical reasoning explicit, using questioning and case-based discussion to develop decision-making, and increasing trainee responsibility in line with demonstrated competence.
You will also develop your approach to observing practice, assessing performance and providing feedback that leads to improvement. The course examines how to review evidence of progress, make defensible judgements about readiness to prescribe, and respond to concerns about performance or patient safety. Reflection and practical activities will support your continuing development as a DPP.
