Inhaler carbon reduction for a Greener NHS

On 30th March, we welcome Brian Mackenna and Jerome Baddley from NHS England & NHS Improvement.

The LTP commits the NHS to playing its part in addressing climate change, a path to a NetZero NHS is being examined.

The propellants used in Asthma and COPD inhalers contribute around 850,000 tonnes to the nations carbon footprint. This is more than all NHS business travel.

The LTP targets will require reducing the carbon impact of inhalers by at least 50%.

What does this mean in practice? How can we deliver this as part of high quality respiratory care? What considerations are appropriate in prescribing, dispensing and disposal of used devices? How will local be incentivised and supported?

The presentation will be followed by a Q & A session.
